Regular Polyhedra

There are only five regular polyhedra. These have faces with equal length sides and equal angels.

These solid figures are repeated throughout nature. Look around, especially at crystals, and see where you find these patterns. Cut an apple horizonitally and have a look at the center.

These figures form an important basis of all manifestation. Meditation upon them will yield excellent fruit.

In the schools of Pythagoras and Plato, the regular polyhedra were considered to have special qualities. These five are sometimes referred to as the Platonic solids.

Pythagoras and Plato teach that the five solids have a relationship to the five elements as follows:

Dodecahedron - Ether
Octahedron - Air
Tetrahedron: Fire
Icosahedron - Water
Cube (Hexahedron) - Earth

These relate to the Eastern Tattwas as follows:

Dodecahedron - Ether - Akasha
Octahedron - Air - Vayu
Tetrahedron: Fire - Tejas
Icosahedron - Water - Apas
Cube (Hexahedron) - Earth - Prithivi

Add up the number of faces times the number of sides on each face for each figure. Compare those with equal number for some hidden equal meaning. Compare the number of edges and number of vertices. Arrange them in the order of the Tattwas and look at the pattern. Connect the center of each face with a line. Visualize cutting off the corners and see what geometries you get. Great mysteries are hidden here for you to explore. Happy mining!

Graphics that you can rotate - way cool.

Rotating images of these solids - very cool (500k).

Multidimentional polyhedra - a consciousness expander!
